So many choices........where to begin? Don't let all of our options overwhelm you, just follow this easy step by step guide to making custom dancewear:

1. Choose a style.

What is your best feature? Pick a style that would accentuate it the most. What is the theme in your locker/closet? Pick a style that is most different from what you already own and is going to add a little pizzazz to your wardrobe.

2. Choose a shape.

What sort of repertoire are you doing? Classical or contemporary? Do you love or hate to wear tights? What is the season? These are the kind of questions that will lead you to whether you want a leotard, short or long unitard.

3. Choose a size. Refer to our size chart or email us if you have any questions.

4. Choosing your fabrics and colors.

This is the biggy. Again, ask yourself some questions so you can find a place to start. Do you like bright colors or muted tones? Monochromatic or rainbow? What is dominating your closet? What color will bring out your eyes and give you a little extra energy? What color is your personality?

The best advice I can give is to pick one color, perhaps a color that is new to you and build around it. Maybe if it is bright you might want to make it a trim and then make the top and bottom a navy or a chocolate to balance. Maybe there is a velvet that might contrast in a complementary way for a top or trim. Refer to our color chart often as we get new colors and fabrics frequently.

5. Choosing Custom Options.

Do you have an audition coming up? Are you sick of the status quo? This is your chance to stand out! Picking a stripe or a diamond cutout can really change things up. Picking it in the same color and/or fabric as your trim is a good way to keep things cohesive while still being fun. Try a different sleeve length, a low back, or a zipper if you want to keep it simple but just push it a little.

General Guidelines:

*Bright colors like magenta, paprika, buttercup, gold, celery and so on, look good balanced against black, navy blue, charcoal, chocolate, plum, and denim.

*If you are using contrasting colors/fabrics, try to use no more than three.

*Less is more! Pick one attribute of yourself, one color, one custom option, or one theme and choose colors and fabrics to accentuate it. You can always order another leotard later!

*Email us! If you have any questions, we would be more than happy to be your style guides!
