Candice Thompson grew up in Phoenix, Arizona and has been immersed in the dance culture since the age of five. Kee Juan Han and the School of Ballet Arizona provided her serious ballet training, as well as summers at the Milwaukee Ballet School and the Princeton Ballet School. Upon graduation from high school, she attended New York University's Tisch School of the Arts. After one year, she left to take a job with the Milwaukee Ballet Company. She danced for five years with the Milwaukee Ballet Company as a member of the corps de ballet and the American Guild of Musical Artists. Her roles have included Papagena in Mark Godden's The Magic Flute, Clara in Michael Pinks' The Nutcracker, Rum and Coca-Cola in Paul Taylor's Company B, Little Swans in Simon Dow's version of Swan Lake, and a soloist in Susan Jones' staging of Paquita as well as works by George Balanchine, Trey McIntyre, Kathy Posin, Lila York, John Utans, Jimmy Gamonet de los Herros, Kurt Jooss, and Lee Wei Chao, to name a few.
Over the years at Milwaukee Ballet, in addition to dancing, she has made premiere dance garments for her colleagues in dance companies all across the nation, listening to their needs and wants, constantly altering her pattern until arriving at the most superior fit. Her garments have also been featured on the stage as part of the costume design for John Utans' Towards Traverse Terrain, winner of the 2002 International Milwaukee Choreographic Competition, and Eric Sanders' play Faint at the 2003 New York International Fringe Festival. Her expertise in design lies in her understanding of how dancers wish to present their bodies while providing them with unique and quirky design features.
